Avalon Pier

With other Outer Banks piers built as early as 1939, Avalon Pier is one of the Outer Banks’ “newest” piers. Many of the original piers on the OBX have long since vanished, and newly renovated and reconstructed piers have replaced them. The Avalon Pier was built in 1958. Though it has been damaged by previous hurricanes, tropical storms, and winter storms, its original frame still stands, and dozens of locals and visitors alike cast lines on a daily basis.
