With other Outer Banks piers built as early as 1939, Avalon Pier is one of the Outer Banks’ “newest” piers. Though it has been damaged by previous hurricanes, tropical storms, and winter storms, its original frame still stands, and dozens of locals and visitors alike cast lines on a daily basis.
