The Princess Parables (ZonderKidz) – Book Review!!

I have been searching for faith-based books for my 5 year old daughter that are age-appropriate and fun to read. Thanks to DJC Communications, my daughter and I enjoyed reading 2 wonderful books from the series entitled — The Princess Parables.  The books we read from this series were, Princess Joy’s Party and Princess Grace and Poppy.  These books are great and my daughter loves them both and wants to read them everyday!

Here are the reasons why we loved Princess Joy’s Party and Princess Grace and Poppy:

  • Zonderkids Series (I Can Read) books are wonderful books for young children and new readers.  The language of the books are easy to understand yet exciting for new readers.
  • There is a bible verse in the front of each book!  This is very important to our family.  My 5 year old has been memorizing bible verses and prayers since she was 2 years old.  My husband and I are always trying to make sure that she understands what she is memorizing and why it is important–and these books help to illustrate the lessons behind the scripture that the particular book highlights.
  • Both of these books were engaging and suspenseful!  They kept my daughter’s full attention.
  • Several lessons were emphasized in these books like being a person with a kind heart, having faith that God hears your prayers, being generous and even the names of the characters can be used to teach your children about Christ-like traits.
  • My daughter now attends a public school so she is missing out on chapel and other bible lessons that she learned and LOVED at her preschool.  These books are a great way to teach important life lessons and to help her to cope with missing her bible and Chapel time at her beloved preschool.
  • Princesses!!!!  My daughter loves princesses!!!  {What Princess wouldn’t??}  She isn’t into a lot of the well-known Princess movies because some of the scenes frighten her.  The Princess Parables were perfect for her–suspenseful but not scary.
  • The illustrations in these books are beautiful, dreamy and imaginative!  The scenes that the illustrator Omar Aranda created well represented the story inspired by the authors Jeanna Young & Jacqueline Johnson!  The expressions on the characters’ faces and the beautiful, vibrant colors in the pictures, truly seem like they are scenes from a movie!!
