One thing I ask from the LORD,
this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.

As I went to Jesus this morning in devotion and prayer, I was greeted by the most magnificent vision of Jesus sitting in his temple. He was surrounded by the beauty of nature: flowers, butterflies and soft sunlight. It was warm, peaceful, inviting and all-enveloping. In that instant, I knew, Jesus had been waiting for me, patiently and expectantly.
I woke, showered, dressed, made my bed, said goodbye to my husband, made breakfast, and then….…finally, sat down for my devotional, bible reading and prayer. As I went through my morning routine, Jesus sat patiently and expectantly waiting. No irritation or judgment. No negativity whatsoever, just peace, tranquility and love–an enveloping love.
Knowing what was awaiting me, I should have popped out of bed and run for that heavenly experience!
Learn from me. Don’t postpone your heavenly experience. Seek Jesus in his temple now.
Each day, picture Jesus lovingly waiting for you, fully available to hear your worries and concerns and ready to cultivate his relationship with you. You might meet Jesus on a beach, on a mountain or even in your living room. Your location will be unique to you. Enlist his help. He will provide the best environment for your time together. Make the effort today “to gaze on the beauty of the LORD, and to seek him in his temple”. It will enhance your time together.
Even when you go to Him out of obligation or obedience, begin with your picture of Him waiting for you. This one step will quickly begin to change your heart. It will allow you to see and receive the true Jesus available to you. You will be greeted by the loving, accepting, all-powerful, ever-present King.
Throughout your life, as you change and are exposed to more experiences, what you envision might evolve or even fluctuate. Don’t fight it, enjoy the transformations. Realize each variation is your glimpse at another slice of heaven.
So what are you waiting for? Go to Him. He’s ready for you.
