The Ultimate Charlotte Smartymom: Jen Plym

Jen Plym Charlotte Mom You know those moms who do it all? The ones that have a brood of kids, look great with not a hair out of place, hold an amazing day job, makes time to hang out with family and friends, and still has time for the fun stuff in life? Yeah, that’s Jen Plym.

Jen Plym is first a wife and mother to four beautiful children, two girls and one set of twin boys. She has lived in Charlotte for 14 years, after fatefully deciding with her husband, {then boyfriend} that Charlotte seemed like a good place to plant their roots. {Aren’t we lucky?!?!}

Recently, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Jen, {there are many of us in Charlotte who like to support one another, I love it!!} and chatting about work, kids, and life. I found out so many interesting things about the person she is, most importantly, I learned about those she loves.

You may, or may not, be surprised to find out that Jen Plym wears her heart on her sleeve. I definitely was one in the “surprised category”. I assumed that since Jen was a hard-working business-mom that she’d be very to the point, and all business, but I was delighted to see a softer side than I had imagined.

Jen adores her husband and her kids and even though she is a working mom, she remains hands-on. Though it’s not an easy task it is one of the most important things in her life. In fact, she is currently co-coaching her twins’ soccer team, wrangling eight 5-year-old ROWDY boys, and nonetheless enjoys that it is both a fun volunteer commitment and an opportunity to spend time with her family.

I love the childrens’ sports every Saturday – it fills our house with good energy.

Jen also loves helping others through her website http://www.CharlotteSmartyPants.com, especially with their Smarty Mom Series.

I love giving the women of Charlotte a platform to share their voice and passion. Close to my heart are the stories of Smarty women, children and families who are doing amazing things all around our community. Whether it’s raising $ for a walk for pediatric cancer, starting a non-profit when she is fighting her last days of life, or she just lost a child and wants to share her story to make a difference to those who walk the shoes behind her: our Smarty Charlotte is a powerful, inspiring and incredible group of women that I’m proud to be a part of.

I also love helping out the new “mompreneurs” who are taking a risk and putting themselves out there. We all started somewhere!

During our conversation, Jen really opened up about how her relationship with Jen Bunich. (Click here for Jen B.’s legacy) What began as a working relationship and blossomed into an eternal friendship. The way that Jen P. spoke about Jen B. was like someone would speak about their best friend, there is no doubt in my mind that Jen B. was an amazing person from the words Jen P. used to describe her personality and life. Although Jen B. is missed by many, Jen P. is doing amazing things to ensure that Jen’s selfless, caring spirit lives on.

I will always be a part of lung cancer awareness since it changed my life on February 4, 2008.

In remembrance of Jen B., Jen P. will be participating in the LungStrong 5K/15K  and encourages everyone to come out to help bring awareness to lung cancer. The event will be held on Saturday, on October 8th in Lake Norman. For more information visit http://www.lungstrong.com/.

So whether it’s raising her children to succeed and be good people, running a successful business, supporting others in their parenthood or work, or honoring the goodness of an amazing friend, Jen Plym surely exemplifies all of the above and if you haven’t “met” her yet I encourage you to head over to http://www.CharlotteSmartyPants.com and email her or leave her a comment to say hi, she’s nice and an  amazing business woman {it is possible!}

      We completely agree and were honored to be able to sit down with her. How great is it when women and moms can support and build each other up?? How much stronger are we when we work together instead of against each other. I love it!
