Kids love snacks! They love to eat throughout the day, and should eat small bites to keep their energy level up.
The tricky part for mom is how to keep those snacks organized. Buying snack size packages is a good idea for convenience but can hit the pocketbook harder than buying in bulk.
Spend some time after each trip to the grocery store dividing out snacks for the week. This will save you time during your busy week.
Be sure to place kid friendly snacks where kids can reach them.
When organizing snacks that are stored in the pantry, I recommend using Ziploc bags. I love the snack bag size.
I also like the idea of using plastic storage containers. My two favorites? IKEA Pruta Containers and Ball Plastic Freezer Jars.
The Ball Plastic Jars come in different sizes. The 8oz and 16oz sizes are ideal snack-ready sizes. They are also BPA free, freezer and dishwasher safe.
When organizing snacks that are stored in the refrigerator, use a basket to corral snack items together. Kids can “shop” from the snack basket. Make it easy on them to find what you pre-approved. Set them up for success!
Consider adding an easy label to the snack basket so everyone knows what is what.
Ziploc bags are your friend when it comes to separating carrots, grapes, and other raw fruits and veggies.
Remember to make it easy for your kids to grab and go. If they know where to look for their snacks and can reach it, then it will make your life much easier as the busy week marches on.
What is your favorite way to organize kids snacks?
