Mother’s Day Shopping? Need ideas?
Do you have trouble finding a Mother’s day gift for those you need to buy for? As a mom, I know certain things I think are nice gifts but not as useful for me- for example- the Willow Tree figures, or other knick-knack items. I think they are very sweet, but I don’t keep a lot of things around to have to dust, or breakable items. I also am not a huge fan of cut flowers- a nice gesture, yes, but for the money you spent on them, buy me a plant that I can enjoy year after year. I am grateful my hubby knows this about me.
Since my first Mothers Day, we have gone to Lowes or Home Depot and purchased either trees, shrubs or plants to add to our front flower beds. These are things I can enjoy year after year and watch grow along with my children. It adds long-term beauty to my home. I also love a hand-stamped piece of jewelry I get from Make Your Mark Jewelry Design by Jennifer Mygatt. (Check her out here) Here is an example of one of her items. I love that she is local and she can customize items exactly how I want them.
I love being able to wear something specific and as a reminder of my kids. That is the reason I am a mother. I personally love heart gifts- things that are meaningful without spending a ton of money. Whether you make it about my kids, or by my kids, doesn’t matter. I am pretty crafty- I like making things. I find a ton of ideas on Pinterest. If you haven’t heard of it yet, you must live in a cave, so go check it out. Last year I made boards or trivets to be used for décor or whatever for both my mom and mother-in-law. I made it about something my kids love about each of them. You can check out the project on my blog -Begin To Craft. They turned out really cute, were personal, and matched the décor and use for them.
I don’t know about you, but I tend to spend more money on my kids and home than myself. That is who we are. We take care of everyone else. A nice mani/pedi is a sweet gift and a good time for me to relax and it is something I don’t usually do for myself.
But really if you just clean the house, take care of a nice meal (including cleaning up after yourself) and allow me a nap- I am one happy Mama.
What about you? What is your favorite gift to give or receive for Mother’s Day?
