Hi, friends! I’m Heather. Wife to my husband of 5 ½ years, stay-at-home mom to our beautiful and busy daughter Isabella (Ella) born in April 2010, and master to a fluffy golden retriever we call Sweet Laila. As a native Charlottean (stop the presses and take a picture! We really do exist!) I am always finding new and fun things to appreciate about the city I have always called home.
Before baby, I worked at many things, none of which have much to do with the degree in Communications and Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte that my parents enthusiastically paid for. Some of my widely varied employment history includes being an events coordinator for a college organization, a short stint as a personal assistant at a church, a sales assistant and, most recently, a make-up artist. Allow me to reiterate that widely varied statement again. These days, I fill my time chasing a busy toddler, running, decorating, shopping, sewing, reading and cooking. I prefer to leave no chance for boredom in between diaper changes and sippy cup refills!
As a new-ish mom who’s still learning to appreciate the art of staying at home, I am always on the lookout for creative things to do with little ones. After all, there’s only so much Sesame Street and baby talk one can enjoy without the occasional company of a good iced latte and adult conversation. So, for those of you always searching for a great reason to get out of the house with the little ones, I’m your girl! (Even if that something doesn’t involve drooling over fabric that could change your life and your dining room). Here’s to being fantastic moms taking full advantage of all the fun learning and playing our city has to offer!
PS– have an event or a creative activity you’d like to share with the Charlotte Moms community? I’m always on the lookout for new things to add to our repertoire of ideas. Email me anytime!
