Goodwill Grand Opening!!

Tomorrow, January 28, 2012 at 9am, the new location for Goodwill is opening in Ballantyne. Just off of Ardrey Kell Rd. and Lancaster Highway (521), the new store is nestled on the corner of Capstone Commons shopping center. We had the pleasure of getting a sneak peak today and I must say that of all the Goodwill stores that I have shopped at (to date), this one is really quite striking. Its bright environment with the wall of windows in the back of the store really bring in the comfortable Carolina sun. Which is perfect, because in the back is a beautiful arrangement of books, set up just like a bookstore! For a moment, I thought I was transformed into a cozy corner of Barnes and Noble. Nice! I know what you are asking, “are you at a Goodwill, really?” YES! Really!

I will definitely be shopping here tomorrow at 9am SHARP! To start, they will be doing a few giveaways tomorrow! I hear they are giving away $250 gift cards to US Airways! Touring the store, I will note that they have quite a selection of high quality items. I spied some Coach purses right in the front, some designer shoes, clothes and accessories. The children’s clothing took an entire corner of a store; there was such a great selection! The housewares and children’s toys weren’t in short supply either. My daughter, who had the fortune of tagging along, already called out what she wants me to buy for her tomorrow. I think she is just as bad as I am… we love finding a bargain!
The best part about supporting any Goodwill here in the South Piedmont area, is the mission statement. They take it seriously, and I love that.
“Changing Lives Through The Power Of Work.”
What a wonderful focus they have! The transactions that take place are set up so that it empowers the local community. Did you know that 90% of the sale made goes back to fund employment and job training programs in the local community? I think it really shows the true nature of their business name. ”Goodwill.” It is more than just a place to donate or to buy from. Next time you spend your dollars at Goodwill, you are helping to change people’s lives. That makes it so worthwhile!
I hope to see you there tomorrow! Come say hello if you happen to bump into me and my daughters!
