Just before you fight the maddening traffic and can’t find a seat at any restaurant in Charlotte due to the DNC, take a hiatus and enjoy the annual Matthews Alive festival taking place in Stumptown Park in Matthews this weekend! Starting tonight and running through Monday it will be non-stop family friendliness with games and rides, artisans, live entertainment and of course my favorite: Carnival Food!
I just can’t pass up a grilled cheeseburger, funnel cake, corn dog, deep fried snickers bar, chicken pita, behemoth sized turkey leg, frozen lemonade, cotton candy, dippin dots or homemade ice cream!
Lines don’t seem long and the craziness of a week melt away when I’m watching my boys ride, slide, bounce or run while munching on a snow cone. Memories in the making! Be sure to grab your family and prepare to eat, laugh and soak up the final hours of summer as you enjoy Matthews Alive. If you show up Saturday at 10am you can witness the largest Labor Day parade in the Southeast. You might just see me there…I’ll be first in line for the Bloomin Onions!
Be safe, have fun and don’t forget to go to church on Sunday!
