Firebirds Northlake Anniversary

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill first began feeding it’s patrons amazing Colorado-style fare right here in Charlotte. In fact, their first restaurant at the Stonecrest Shopping Center opened their doors in December 2000, and since then Firebirds has opened 17 more restaurants across the nation as of this month.

Also this month Firebirds Northlake celebrated their 5th year in business, (Happy Anniversary!) and thanks to Firebirds my family was able to go check out their great location and enjoy their cuisine. Here’s my take on my recent Firebirds experience:The first thing you notice when you arrive at Firebirds Northlake is their beautiful outdoor stone patio, and yes they have an amazing outdoor fireplace too, a great place to sit outside with your family, or grab a few drinks with your girlfriends for a mom’s night out. On this particular occasion, however, my husband and two pre-school daughters accompanied me as we entered the beautiful, dimly-lit, dining room and were seated at a very comfortable booth.

Firebirds for the Kids

Firebirds is very family-friendly, and had both boosters and highchairs on hand as well as a great kid’s menu to choose from, (minus the “scary bird” on the front cover, according to Avery, although she’s also deathly afraid of bugs.)

The activities on the kid’s menu kept Avery very busy while we waited for our fresh bread. Luckily, the girls were very well mannered although the restaurant was far from quiet and super kid-friendly.

We’re always making sure our children have fruits and vegetables when possible, but sometimes eating out makes that a little harder. I was grateful that the Firebirds kid’s menu featured some healthier choices like their Grilled Chicken Breast, Wood Grilled Salmon, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, carrot chips and milk.

Firebirds for the Adults

On the mommy and daddy side of the table, we were excited at all of the many options on the menu. From their yummy appetizers to their burgers and wood fired grill entrees we had a hard time choosing, but my husband ended up getting the Wood Grilled Salmon with Parmesan Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli and I started with a side Caesar salad and got the Cilantro-Grilled Chicken Breast with Parmesan Mashed Potatoes and a side of the Port Mushrooms for my entree.

Let me just tell you how delicious this dinner was. From the bread to my side salad and entrees we were both blown away by the way the food looked, but even more-so how it tasted. The Caesar comes with chile dusted croutons and was a little spicy but I liked it. My husband said his salmon was one of the best he’d ever tasted, and our oldest loved her meal and said of the french fries, “I could eat these every day,” while little one enjoyed little pieces of our meals. I don’t think we had one complaint with any of the food, the fresh-squeezed lemonade that I tried however was a little sweet for my taste, but our food was spot on.

Just looking at these pictures again makes my mouth water. Not to mention the amazing Creme Brulee Cheesecake we took home with us (the girls were getting a little fussy). Plus, the portions were so big that we had take-home boxes for each of our meals and were able to enjoy the next day.

I would highly recommends Firebirds for their beautiful setting and great food, plus it’s not you’re average “kids restaurant”, but definitely somewhere where you can take the kids and not worry about looks or finding something appropriate for them to eat. I felt like I was on a date with my husband, and as a bonus we got to bring our kids and eat a great meal at the same time!
